Ruby
A ruby is one of the variants of the mineral corundum. The two best-known types of corundum are rubies (red) and sapphires (blue). They get their different colors when it contains specific types of metal. The name is derived from the Latin word ruber, meaning "red". A ruby scores a 9 on the Mohs scale. So pretty hard!
